It Begins

Well, here we go again! CD1 was Thursday, so I will be going in on Wednesday for a blood draw, hysteroscopy, doppler ultrasound, and trial embyro transfer (what a fun way to use half of a personal day). If all looks good, then we'll wait for my next cycle and move on to birth control pills on CD3. I'm really starting to get excited!

In the mail today I got the bill for our consult. Somehow it magically increased from the original quote of $175 to $320. Not happening, but nice try. They'll be hearing from me on Monday.

And because I just can't help myself, here's a cute recent picture of the boy smelling flowers in our backyard. (And no, we don't let him drink diet Dr. Pepper.)

Happy Birthday, Noah!

Happy 2nd Birthday to my little boy! We had an excellent time with friends and family at our neighborhood park today. The weather was picture perfect, and despite the fact that half our guest list canceled at the last minute, Noah thoroughly enjoyed himself.

With Wilson, his best friend, eating some fruit.

The kids all loved the sand pit.

Baby Ethan, almost 6 months old.

Autumn, my friend Emily's crazy-adorable little girl.

Olivia, or "Ivvy" as Noah refers to her. His daycare buddy.

Uncle Brady bought a bubble machine which boasts 5000 bubbles per minute. I can't even describe to you how excited all the kids got. Priceless. I highly recommend this toy!

It's hard to believe Noah is already two. Happy Birthday, kiddo!

FET Consult

Yesterday was our consult appointment for our upcoming FET. To be completely honest, it was underwhelming. First of all, the appointment had to be rescheduled last minute because our new doctor had to schedule someone for surgery during our original time. My options were to either come in at 10:00am or 12:00pm. I had a HUGE IEP meeting at 11:00, so those options sucked. I told the receptionist that those times just wouldn't work. My other options were to try middle of the day Thursday (when I work at a school across town from the clinic and my home), or wait until May 15th. I wanted to swear at the lady because we already waited a month from when I originally made this appointment, but instead I begrudgingly agreed. I happened to be at a meeting away from my school when they called me Monday morning, so the whole way back to school I wondered if I should try to make one of the other times work or if I was just being a baby. I talked to the principal pretty much the second I walked in the door and she told me, "A doctor appointment comes before an IEP meeting. Just go." I love her. So 10:00am it was. (And lucky me, I got back to school just in time for said IEP meeting, which lasted THREE flipping hours and kept me from ever eating lunch. Awesome.)

So, the appointment lasted 10 whole minutes*. No joke. Doctor was 20 minutes late, then breezed us in and out. He quickly explained that we will thaw one baby at a time until we get one "excellent" thawed embryo. Then we will transfer just the one, based on our previous success. I will have to do the trial embryo transfer again and have a hysteroscopy (a new procedure to me, add it to my ever-growing list) as apparently your uterus and cervix can turn into a total dump after childbirth and so they must be examined thoroughly. Both of those will probably be done between cycle days 5-12 next month. Then, at the start of my cycle around end of May or beginning of June, I will begin birth control. Add in some lupron and various other drugs yet to be discussed, and about 6 weeks later we will transfer a wee little embryo into my belly. It's looking like a mid-July transfer, which sounds perfect to me. Fingers already crossed. Tightly.

*10 minutes of facetime with your doctor equals $175. I so went into the wrong field.

My Sweet Boy

Work has been awful lately. Stressful. Overwhelming. If you know anything about special education, imagine completing over 100 initial or triennial IEP reports in less than two months. Trying to fit that in on top of a caseload of 29 students amongst three schools, well, let's just say I'm feeling sunk. I've been getting one crushing headache per week on average, and tonight was my lucky night this week. To add to it, Noah was in rare form after getting totally buzzed on Easter candy. He was almost literally bouncing off the walls, which is highly unusual for my mellow, serious boy. It was not helping my headache, and by his bedtime I finally just laid my head down on the couch in front of him. And then he did the sweetest thing. Noah reached out, put his hand on my arm, and asked, "Mommy okay?" So earnestly. The kiss and super enthusiastic hug afterwards was the cherry on top. Just when I think I couldn't possibly love him more.
